Abxylute 3D One and the "portable" console weighs over 1,000 grams with its 11-inch screen
With its 3D One, Abxylute will be only the second portable console manufacturer to rely on Intel processors.
Although these little machines existed before Valve took a look at them, it was the success of the Steam Deck from 2022 onwards that really launched this sector of activity: portable hybrid PC consoles are not real competitors to Nintendo's Switch and Switch 2, as their objectives are so different, but they are of interest to an ever-growing fringe of the population. In fact, a number of projects have been launched by sometimes little-known manufacturers, who are trying their utmost to carve out a place in the sun. This is undoubtedly the idea that went through the minds of the engineers and financial managers at Abxylute.
Until now, Abxylute has been best known for its portable consoles, but these were relatively modest machines powered by the Android operating system: machines with limited ambitions and resolutely affordable prices. With the announcement of the 3D One, we've moved into a whole new dimension, with a machine characterized by a format that is far removed from what we're used to in the world of portable consoles. AYANEO and Lenovo had already launched machines with 8.6" and 8.8" screens respectively, but here we're on the verge of disproportion: Abxylute is talking about a 10.95" diagonal, 2,560 x 1,600 pixel LCD panel. A real monster.
While we don't know the exact dimensions of the machine, it should logically be the largest handheld console ever marketed. In any case, it will be the heaviest, since Abxylute is already talking about a weight of 1.1 kilograms, which does not allow for a particularly imposing battery: only 50 Wh are mentioned, which is unlikely to be enough, given the size of the screen and its stereoscopic 3D functionalities. Fortunately, Abxylute should be able to count on the sobriety of the Intel Core Ultra 7 258V processor chosen by the brand. This is an 8-core model with 12 MB Smart Cache and 32 GB LPDDR5X. To further distinguish itself, Abxylute indicates that its console is equipped with a kickstand on the rear, detachable controllers that can be combined to form a "real" joystick, and a detachable keyboard... it remains to be seen whether all these accessories will be delivered with the machine, and what the price of the beast will be. To be continued...
