LX 7G100: The First High-Performance Chinese GPU, Still a Long Way Behind the GeForce RTX 5060

The Lisuan LX 7G100 undoubtedly breaks new ground, but it still lags far behind the American solutions from AMD and NVIDIA.
The Chinese Lisuan LX 7G100 graphics card has just undergone a new series of tests conducted by PC Games Hardware. Equipped with 12 GB of GDDR6 memory and compatible with DirectX 12 and Vulkan, it outperforms the Moore Threads MTT S80, the other Chinese GPU that was the talk of the town just a few months ago. That said, when compared to the industry-leading models designed by the sector’s giants, AMD and NVIDIA, the performance gap remains considerable: across a panel of 14 games tested by our colleagues at 1080p, the LX 7G100 achieves about one-third the performance of a GeForce RTX 5060—a latest-generation model, but far from the top of the line.
Specifically, the Lisuan LX 7G100 is about 23% faster than a GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB, but still lags significantly behind even older models. For example, the entry-level GeForce RTX model—the RTX 2060—delivers 55% better performance than the Lisuan, while a Radeon RX 6600 widens the gap even further. It’s important to note, however, that performance differences can vary considerably depending on the game. PC Games Hardware cites Baldur’s Gate 3 as an example, where the LX 7G100 achieves 32.2 frames per second at 1080p with medium settings, compared to 23.5 frames per second for the MTT S80. Certain titles, such as Dota 2, also perform better on it.
These disparities are proof that the software still has a long way to go. This comes as no surprise, given that Intel—and AMD before it—have already had to struggle for months to develop graphics drivers that are stable, comprehensive, and high-performing. That said, Lisuan’s progress in this area has been considerable: today, most modern games run more than adequately, without any real bugs. Finally, it’s worth noting the significant improvements in power consumption: here, Moore Threads falls far short, with the LX 7G100 drawing 199 W during gameplay compared to 232 W for the MTT S80. At idle, the difference is even more striking at 59 W versus 108 W, but you have to admit that 59 W at idle is still far too much.
