AMD confirms the upcoming release of Valve's Steam Machine
The "Q1 2026" launch window is slowly closing, but AMD confirms that it remains on Valve's radar.
Just when we were expecting Valve to provide more details and masterfully controlled communication, its partner AMD has confirmed the release window for the famous Steam Machines. Oh, let's not exaggerate, AMD hasn't made any earth-shattering revelations, but it's surprising nonetheless. Let's look back at this announcement.

AMD CEO Lisa Su is no stranger to making public appearances, with her high-profile presentations announcing new processors and graphics cards. This time, however, it was in a much more muted setting that she took the floor: the presentation of the American group's financial results. Unprecedented results for the company, which can count on the success of its server processors (EPYC) and the prowess of artificial intelligence. But Lisa Su had another card to play, and as VideoCardz explains, she was very clear: " From a product point of view, Valve is on track to start shipping its AMD-powered Steam Machine early this year ".
In other words, the hardware is complete, and all that's left to do is produce the machines and take care of the logistics... all the while setting a selling price that won't scare off potential customers while still being high enough for Valve to - at least - break even... that's because it would be a matter of not repeating the fiasco of the first Steam Machines launched in 2015 and discontinued... in 2016! In just one short sentence, Lisa Su addressed the questions raised by many users who, since last November's announcement, have been waiting for Steam Machines and were beginning to doubt that they would actually arrive in the first quarter of 2026.
