With just a few days to go before the release of Crimson Desert, all the configurations are detailed... all of them!
It's hard to top the information published by Pearl Abyss about the requirements for its new game.
Not exactly a sequel to Black Desert Online, Crimson Desert is nonetheless the second project from its development studio... which is now being closely followed. Pearl Abyss will be launching its new baby at the end of the week and, as is often the case with Windows, the team is taking stock of the game's system requirements to find out what you can expect on the machine you'll be using. For once, however, Pearl Abyss isn't just making this point on Windows: the studio is specifying everything you can expect from its game on macOS as well, since the game is being released simultaneously. Even rarer are the details concerning home consoles and even handheld consoles. On Windows, five configurations are presented. That's all.
Minimumsystem requirements :
- Operating system: Windows 10 64-bit 22H2 or higher
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X or Intel i5-8500
- RAM: 16 GB
- Graphics card: AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060
- Hard disk space: 150 GB, SSD required
System requirements:
- Operating system: Windows 10 64-bit 22H2 or higher
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X or Intel i5-8500
- RAM: 16 GB
- Graphics card: AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660
- Hard disk space: 150 GB, SSD required
Two very similar configurations which, logically, will only allow you to play in Full HD with varying degrees ofupscaling and graphic detail, but still an animation speed of 30 frames per second.
Recommendedconfiguration :
- Operating system: Windows 10 64-bit 22H2 or higher
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 5600 or Intel i5-11600K
- RAM: 16 GB
- Graphics card: AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080
- Disk space: 150 GB, SSD required
Things are starting to get more serious. Pearl Abyss talks about playing with medium detail in 1080p at 60 fps. Harder to believe, the studio also mentions the possibility of playing in 4K at 30 fps.
High" configuration :
- Operating system: Windows 10 64-bit 22H2 or higher
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X or Intel i5-12600K
- RAM: 16 GB
- Graphics card: AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070
- Hard disk space: 150 GB, SSD required
The difference with the previous configuration is impressive! Of course, it's possible to go much higher: graphic detail on high and gaming at 1,440p at 60 fps are the target.
Ultra" configuration :
- Operating system: Windows 10 64-bit 22H2 or higher
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 7700X or Intel i5-13600K
- RAM: 16 GB
- Graphics card: AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti
- Disk space: 150 GB, SSD required
Starting with the " recommended " configuration and, of course, thereafter, you can play in even better conditions: 1080p, for example, with a fluidity of at least 60 fps. Note that whatever the configuration proposed by Pearl Abyss, it is always necessary to have at least 150 GB of available space on SSD. That's a bit steep, especially at the moment. On the other hand, there's never any need for more than 16 GB of RAM: a welcome addition in these times of DRAM crisis.
In a second step, Pearl Abyss also reveals all you need to enjoy the macOS version of its game. Crimson Desert still requires 150 GB of available SSD space and 16 GB of memory. After that, it all depends on whether you have an M2, M3, M4 or M5 chip in your machine. There's more to come, however, as the South Korean studio then takes the time to clarify things for home consoles, with details of what you can expect depending on whether you own a PlayStation 5 or a PlayStation 5 Pro, an Xbox Series S or an Xbox Series X.
What's interesting about these console configurations is that Pearl Abyss has taken the time to detail everything: gamers will be able to see for themselves what performance, balance and quality modes will look like on these different machines. Some studios should take note. Last but not least: Pearl Abyss returns to the performance to be expected on a handheld console. Here, however, we're a little disappointed. The idea is good, of course, but too few configurations are presented here: the studio limits itself to the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X alone. No consoles from Lenovo or MSI are presented, nor is the Steam Deck featured. Finally, even the original ROG Ally is absent. So much for Microsoft's sponsorship...
