Windows Notepad now even more varied and complete
Windows 11's Notepad is what you might call a relic, but a relic that still knows how to evolve.
Undoubtedly one of the oldest and most prominent modules in the Windows operating system, Notepad has been present since the very first version of Microsoft's software. Yes, the little program has been around for 40 years now, and has kept up with all Windows evolutions without ever missing a beat. In fact, for many years, it remained virtually unchanged, adopting an aesthetic more in line with the OS interface as a whole.
Recently, however, Microsoft has taken it upon itself to add new functionalities to Notepad, enriching it significantly so that it can evolve from a simple troubleshooting tool into a fully-fledged text application, more in tune with the needs of today's users. Tabs were introduced some time ago, and the module has of course been boosted by artificial intelligence to keep up with current trends, with operation becoming increasingly fluid with each new version.
Today, Microsoft is adding a new string to the bow of its Notepad with support for real tables designed to complete the "text" editing offering. These tables are not as complete as those found in Word or, of course, Excel, but they still offer the necessary formatting, without however penetrating Excel's guard-rails: there's no question of turning Notepad into a table, and no calculations are possible in the cells of your tables. Still reserved for preview versions of Windows 11, this feature should not take long to be deployed on a large scale, before other additions?
