At a time when the disposable is still all too often the norm, the very special repair of a GeForce RTX 5070 Ti is a sight to behold.
It's the kind of thing that not everyone can do, but the feat accomplished by a duo of modders from Brazil certainly deserves a few minutes' attention. Modders Sidnelson and Paulo Gomez explain how they obtained a slightly damaged GeForce RTX 5070 Ti graphics card. The story doesn't say how it happened, but the graphics card's power stage simply doesn't exist any more: in its place is a nice hole in the PCB.
Inevitably, the graphics card could no longer function. But this was clearly not enough to stop the two Brazilian modders, who have already made a name for themselves on several occasions for their impressive DIY projects. In this case, they set out to repair the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti using an aging Radeon RX 580. Yes, an old-generation AMD card to repair a brand-new NVIDIA model.
To see the operation in detail, it's best to take a look at the video above, but you should know that Sidnelson and Paulo Gomez encountered a few difficulties due to the two boards' very different power supplies and the need to rewire the whole assembly. However, like all great Hollywood films, the story ends for this GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, which seems to be back in working order, even if it now has a rather singular look.
