Corsair AI Workstation 300: a Ryzen Strix Halo-powered mini-PC for AI
A real little bomb, perfect for intense calculations and development in the field of artificial intelligence.
One by one, every brand seems to want to offer a solution based on AMD's Strix Halo chip. This architecture enables processors to be equipped with AMD's latest CPU technology (Zen 5), combined with a powerful graphics solution. We're not talking about AMD's latest - RDNA 4 - but the generation just before. More importantly, we're talking about the integration of numerous RDNA 3.5 computing units: no fewer than 40 on the most powerful model, for unrivalled graphics performance on a configuration without a dedicated graphics card.
It's not for nothing that several manufacturers of notebooks, handheld consoles and mini-PCs have already started offering Strix Halo-based products. Alas, demand is strong, and this is unlikely to bring down the very high prices for a chip that AMD knows is eagerly awaited. Corsair, for example, plans to start distributing three variants of its AI Workstation 300 in September, without giving any further details. Its name leaves little doubt as to the machine's purpose: it's a workstation dedicated to artificial intelligence.
In fact, the graphics solution integrated into Strix Halo chips can be "hijacked" to work in conjunction with the chip's NPU: the aim is to develop a maximum of 126 TOPS for artificial intelligence computing! It's easy to understand why Corsair combines up to 128 GB of RAM on the highest-end configuration of its AI Workstation 300: AI tasks are very RAM-hungry. Combined with 2x 2TB SSDs, this machine will retail for the princely sum of $2299.99, but will be able to count on the power of the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor from the Strix Halo range and on a fearsomely compact case measuring 247 x 95 x 188 millimeters!
As VideoCardz points out, Corsair is planning to launch two other, slightly more affordable variants. Alongside the one already mentioned at $2299.99, it will be possible to spend "only" $1999.99 for a configuration still based on Ryzen AI Max 395 and featuring 128 GB RAM, but with a simple 1 TB SSD. Finally, the third variant switches to a lower processor with the Ryzen AI Max 385. 64 GB of memory and a 1 TB SSD complete the picture.
