One after the other, the two main portals of the LDLC Group have started trading in second-hand graphics cards.

Already in place on the LDLC portal - part of the eponymous group - the used graphics card trade-in platform is now also operational on the Materiel.net site. The principle remains logically the same, and the conditions are absolutely identical between the two portals. The idea is quite simple: to enable users of both online stores to trade-in their graphics cards more quickly, in order to upgrade their machine to a more modern, higher-performance solution.

To keep things as simple as possible, both stores accept cards purchased from other suppliers, and are not particular about the brand of graphics card involved. What's more, shipping costs are taken care of, and almost everything is handled by LDLC or Materiel.net. We haven't tested the service, but on paper it looks pretty straightforward, as you can see from the diagram above:

  • Information: fill in the form and, once your request has been analyzed, you'll be asked to sign for the card.
  • Shipping: a prepaid label will be sent to you, with shipping costs covered by Materiel.net.
  • Card testing: your card will be tested in the workshop and Materiel.net experts will validate its redemption.
  • Voucher: a voucher for the value of your graphics card will be made available to you in your customer account.

While the procedure may seem straightforward, this offer is not all good news. In fact, you wouldn't expect to find prices on a par with what you'd get in a private sale. Companies like Groupe LDLC have many costs associated with VAT, employee payments and the need to take out a certain warranty. The fact remains, however, that the prices may put off more than one potential customer, while there's no question of taking back Intel graphics cards or older AMD/NVIDIA models. So all that remains is to see if you're still interested, but one thing's for sure: you'll have less hassle than with platforms like LeBonCoin, for example!
