Expected for a few weeks already, the 21H2 update is now available for everyone... well almost everyone.

The release of Windows 11 on October 5th and the progressive deployment of the new Microsoft operating system should not make us forget the existence of Windows 10. Microsoft knows this and if it has already specified that its aging system will no longer receive updates to bring major new features, it has also specified that support for the operating system will continue normally until at least 2025. This gives hesitant users time to think about whether they should switch to Windows 11.

When we talk about support for the system, we obviously mean the deployment of updates to correct any bugs and provide answers to essential security questions. To do this, Microsoft has just confirmed the start of the deployment of the November update, which is also known as 21H2 for "year 2021, second semester". Already presented by Microsoft in July, the update is based on build 19044.1288.

Without much surprise, the detection, deployment and installation of this update is done via Windows Update. However, it is possible that it does not yet communicate anything to you, even by requesting it via the "update search". Microsoft explains it in the simplest way possible: " We are taking the same measured approach to the rollout of the November Update as we did for previous versions, to enable a smooth update. We will be limiting availability over the next few weeks to ensure a reliable download for everyone. As a result, the update may not be available to you right away.

A gradual rollout that will however result in the same improvements on all Windows 10 machines, of course. It is thus a question of focusing on the notions of productivity and security with three major improvements. First of all, Microsoft talks about adding support for WPA3 H2E standards to improve the security of Wi-Fi connections on the system. The vendor also points out that Windows Hello Enterprise introduces a new deployment method - cloud trust - to support simplified password-free deployment. Finally, Microsoft explains that GPU computing support is now in order in the Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) and Azure IoT Edge for Linux on Windows (EFLOW). It will be used formachine learning deployment and other compute-intensive tasks.
