NVIDIA would be ready to re-launch an RTX 2060, but with 12GB of GDDR6
Faced with the shortage of GPUs and graphics cards, all means could be good to fill the shelves.
Let's keep in mind that this is not exactly official information and NVIDIA has not yet confirmed anything of the sort. However, several sources seem to converge towards a "middle ground" solution in the small world of graphics cards. As you know, between the upheavals caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the difficulties in supplying semiconductors and the quality of the new GeForce RTX series / Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards, it's a bit of a disaster for PC gamers.
For almost 18 months now, the shelves have been virtually empty and the few graphics cards still available - often entry-level models that are of little interest for video games - are reaching price peaks. Recently, there have been rumors that NVIDIA might re-launch a relatively old GPU from the previous generation. The idea would be of course to be able to produce it more easily than the Ampere GPUs and thus put more graphics cards on the market.
Logically, NVIDIA would have set its sights on a mid-range model, the GeForce RTX 2060. While the card cannot compare to models based on the Ampere architecture, it is still quite decent and allows you to run most of the video games of the moment in a very decent way. According to information gathered by Videocardz, NVIDIA would however have the idea of beefing up this "real / fake" new graphics card.
As our colleagues explain, the GPU would still be a TU106-300 engraved in 12 nm, as on the RTX 2060. On the other hand, it would be marked KX, probably to signify its ability to handle more video memory: NVIDIA would accompany this GPU with 12 GB of GDDR6 when the previous RTX 2060 had to make do with 6 GB. The release of this card would be planned for the very end of the year or the beginning of the next one, but we don't have any idea yet of the price considered.
