French Days in spring 2023: what are the most requested items by French citizens and what discounts can they expect? The answer in this study.
In anticipation of French Days 2023, which will take place from Wednesday, May 3 to Tuesday, May 9, idealo, the price comparison service belonging to the Axel Springer group and leader in France and Europe, has studied the purchasing habits of French citizens and revealed the list of the most requested items as well as the offers they can't miss!
According to Idealo: " Despite the inflation, the French don't lose hope to find promos for the PS5 or Samsung or Apple smartphones. This year, there are more price alerts for older models (iPhone 13, Galaxy S20, S21) than for the latest models (iPhone14, Samsung Galaxy S23). This is a sign of compromise between budget and brand loyalty," explains Anna Perret-Silberberg, communications manager at idealo France. 
What product categories should we look out for this year?
The French Days of Spring are attracting the attention of French people who are looking for attractive discounts of up to 13% off their favorite product categories, with smartphones topping the list of most watched products. The ranking includes high-tech products and household appliances, but also underdogs such as sneakers, which dropped 12 places, and Lego, which gained 7 places compared to last year.
French Days Spring 2023: what kind of deals are you looking for?
Sony's standard PlayStation 5 gaming console is once again the most popular product among French consumers, who hope to find it with an 11% discount off its original price. Apple's AirPods 3 and AirPods Pro 2 take second and third place in this ranking, respectively. This year's ranking also features new home appliances, including two Roborock vacuums (Roborock S7 (360) - Roborock S7 Pro Ultra) and the Bissell SpotClean Pet Pro shampooer, which are popular with pet owners. The famous brand Dyson has been ousted from this 2023 ranking.
What were we buying last year?
The spring edition of French Days in 2022 was disappointing for consumers who were hoping for deeper discounts. The best discount was seen for lawn mowers, with a 7% price drop. Discounts for other products were modest, ranging from 1% to 3% for running shoes, sneakers, audio cards and smartphones. However, processors and hybrid cameras saw a 4% price increase during the 2022 French Days period.
This year, 2023, seems to be more conducive to bargains. If last year promotions were not necessarily present, due to inflation, they should be more present and important this year.
