Cautions and Limitations


Installation

1. Start Windows with all USB cables disconnected.
(except the keyboard and mouse)

2. Exit all applications before performing the installation.

3. Before you connect the V-Synth to your computer by a USB cable, make the following settings on the V-Synth.

1. Turn the V-Synth's POWER switch "ON," and wait for the startup screen to go away.

2. Press the [MODE] button.

3. Touch [SYSTEM] in the screen.

4. Touch the [MIDI USB] tab in the left side of the screen.

5. Touch [USB Setup] in the screen.

6. Touch [Storage] in the [USB Mode].

7. Touch [OK] in the lower right of the screen.

8. When the WARNING screen appears, touch [ACCEPT].

9. Touch [Write] in the lower right of the screen.

10. Touch [EXECUTE] in the lower right of the screen.

4. Use a USB cable to connect the V-Synth to your computer.

5. Press [MODE] to access the V-SYNTH MODE MENU window.

6. Touch <USB>.

The USB Storage screen appears.

7. Touch <Internal>.

8. The "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box will appear, and click "Next" button.

9. Select "Search for the best driver for your device.", and click "Next" button.

10. Enter a check mark in the "Specify a location" field, input the name of the folder that contains the driver, and click the "Next" button.

* Click the "Browse" button of the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box to access the "Browse for Folder" dialog box, move to the folder that contains the driver, and click the "OK" button. Then click the "Next" button.

11. The display will indicate "Windows driver file search for the device: Roland V-Synth USB Drive." Click "Next."

12. The display will indicate "Windows has finished installing the software that your new hardware device requires." Click "Finish."

13.The "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box will appear, and click "Next" button.

14. Select "Search for the best driver for your device.", and click "Next" button.

15. Enter a check mark in the "Specify a location" field, input the name of the folder that contains the driver, and click the "Next" button.

16. The display will indicate "Windows driver file search for the device: USB Mass Storage Device." Click "Next."

17. The display will indicate "Windows has finished installing the software that your new hardware device requires." Click "Finish."

To reinstall

1. Delete the driver as described in "To uninstall."

2. Install the driver as described in "Installation."


To uninstall

1. Start Windows with all USB cables disconnected.
(except the keyboard and mouse)

2. Before you connect the V-Synth to your computer by a USB cable, make the following settings on the V-Synth.

3. Use a USB cable to connect the V-Synth to your computer.

4. Press [MODE] to access the V-SYNTH MODE MENU window.

5. Touch <USB>.

The USB Storage screen appears.

6. Touch <Internal>.

7. Exit all applications before performing the uninstallation.

8. Delete the driver.

8-1. Open the "Control Panel," and double-click "System."

8-2. Click the "Device Manager" tab.

8-3. Double-click "Universal Serial Bus controllers" to see the list of devices.

8-4. From the list, select "Roland V-Synth USB Drive" and click "Remove."

8-5. A "Confirm Device Removal" dialog box will appear. Make sure that "Roland V-Synth USB Drive" is shown in the dialog box, and click the "OK" button.

8-6. In "System Properties," click "Close."

9. Disconnect the USB cable from the V-Synth and turn the V-Synth's POWER switch "ON."

10. Change the "Folder Options" settings.

1. Click "Start" -> "Settings" -> "Folder Options," and click the "View" tab.

2. In "Advanced settings," uncheck "Hide file extensions for known file types" and check "Show all files" in "Hidden files." Then click "OK."

11. Delete the driver settings files.

11-1. Start up the Explorer, select "\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\IOSUBSYS\Stumspdr.pdr" (if it exists). Right-click and choose "Delete" from the menu that appears.

11-2. If "\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\Stumsusb.sys" exists, select it, right-click, and choose "Delete" from the menu that appears.

11-3. In the "\WINDOWS\INF\OTHER" folder, successively "Stride-ltdSTUMSUSB.INF," "Stride-ltdSTUMSPDR.INF" and for each file, right-click and choose "Delete" from the menu that appears.

12. Restart Windows.
